Grace Iola Lawson Johnston

Christabel Lawson Johnston (b. 1981, nee Brudenell-Bruce), wife of Edward P. Lawson Johnston (b. 1979), gave birth to a daughter, Grace Iola, 5 June, 2006.
Edward Lawson Johnston is a scion of the Barons Luke (created 1929), twin son of the Hon. Philip Richard Lawson Johnston (b. 1950), by his wife the former Saskia Moyne Andrews, & Mrs Lawson Johnston is the formefr Christabel Marie-Jeanne Brudenell-Bruce, scion of the Marquesses of Ailesbury, daughter of Andrew Robert Joel Brudenell-Bruce (b. 1951), by his wife, the former Sophie Inch.
Edward Lawson Johnston is a grandson of the late 2nd Baron Luke, KCVO.

David Pilkington is a grandson maternally of Sir Thomas Calderwood Dundas, of Arniston, 7th and last Baronet.

Nina Rose Greenall

Laura Greenall, wife of the Hon. John Edward ( Johnny) Greenall, yr son of the 3rd Baron Daresbury, gave birth to a daughter, Nina Rose, 21 June, 2006, at St Mary's Hospital, Paddington, a sister for unknown boy Greenall, b. 18 June, 2001, and for Martha Anne, who was b. 10 February, 2004.Laura Greenall is the only daughter of the late Nicholas [Nico] Collin, of Whytherstone House, Pockley, York, by his 2nd wife the former Lady Clarissa Duncombe (b. 1938), only daughter of the 3rd and last Earl of Feversham(1906-63), by his wife the former Lady Anne Dorothy Wood, daughter of the 1st Earl of Halifax. Johnny Greenall's first wife, Gabrielle, stood sponsor at the christening of Princess Eugenie of York in 1990.

Baron Rawlinson of Ewell, PC, QC

The Baron Rawlinson of Ewell, PC, QC, who died 28 June, 2006, aged 87, was, as Peter Rawlinson, Conservative MP for Epsom, 1955-74 & for Epsom and Ewell, 1974-78, and was Solicitor General, 1962-64, Attorney-General, 1970-74. He was b. 26 June, 1919, son of Lt-Col Arthur Richard Rawlinson, OBE (d. 1984), of Ferring, Sussex, descended from the Grayson Baronets; married (1) 1940 (div 1954) (marriage later annulled by Sacred Rota, Rome), Haidee, daughter of Gerald Kavanagh; (2) 1954, his kinswoman Elaine Angela Dominguez, also descended from the Grayson Barts, daughter of Vincent Luis Dominguez, of Rhode Island, USA, & had issue from both unions. His grandson, Luke Irwin married Alice Elliot, niece of HRH The Duchess of Cornwall.

Major-General the 2nd Viscount Monckton of Brenchley, CB, OBE, MC, died at his home, 22 June, 2006. He was 90. Gilbert Walter Riversdale Monckton was b. 3 Nov, 1915, son of the 1st Viscount (aka Sir Walter Monckton, GCVO, KCMG, MC, PC, QC) sometime Attorney-General to the Duchy of Cornwall, a great friend and adviser to Edward VIII (afterwards Duke of Windsor), Tory MP, and Minister of Defence and Paymaster General in the 1950s; by his 1st wife Mary Adelaide Somes Colyer-Ferguson, of the Colyer-Ferguson Baronets. He was educated at Harrow and Trinity College, Cambridge; Career:- Major-Gen (retired), late the 12th Royal Lancers, formerly 5th Royal Inniskilling Dragoon Guards; Colonel 9/12th Royal Lancers 1967-73; Hon Colonel, Kent and Sharpshooters Yeomanry 1974-79; Deputy Chairman, Gulf Gaurantee Bank; Director of Public Relations, War Office, 1960-65, and Chief of Staff, HQ BAOR, 1965-67; President, Kent Association of Boys' Clubs, 1965-78; President, Institute of Heraldic and Genealogical Studies since 1965; Deputy Lieutenant for Kent; Bailiff Grand Cross of Obedience Sovereign Military Order of Malta and KStJ (Chairman of the Council of the Order of St John for Kent 1969-75); Grand Officer of the Order of Leopold II; Cdr Order of the Crown of Belgium; Bailiff Grand Cross of Justice Constantinian Order of St George; OBE (Mil) 1956; CB (Mil) 1966; succeeded to the viscountcy (created in 1957) on the demise of his father, 1965; married 1950, Marianna Laetitia, daughter of Cdr Robert Tatton Bower, RN, descended from the Baron Strickland (ext.)., by whom he had issue, sons, Christopher, Timothy, Jonathan and Anthony, and daughter Rosamond, wife of the Hon Dominic Lawson (son of the life peer Baron Lawson of Blaby). Rosamond Monckton was a great friend of Diana, Princess of Wales. The peerage now devolves upon his eldest son, the Hon Christopher Walter Monckton, b. 14 Feb, 1952. The funeral is at All Saints Church, Brenchley, 30 June, 2006.

The Lady Winefride Alice Freeman (nee Fitzalan-Howard), who died at St. Teresa's Residential Care Home, Kensington, 27 May, 2006, aged 91, was the last surviving child of the 12th Duke of Norfolk, KG, PC, CVO (d. 1917), by his 2nd wife, Gwendolen Mary, Lady Herries of Terregles (d. 1945). She was b. 31 Oct 1914; married 7 May, 1943, Lt-Col John Edward Broke Freeman (d. 1986), son of Sir Philip Horace Freeman, KCVO, KBE, by whom she had one son, Charles, and 2 daughters, Mary & Virginia. Career:- JP for Suffolk; President Suffolk Red Cross, 1972-84. She lived in Aldingbourne, West Sussex. The funeral took place at the Cathedral church of St Philip Neri, Arundel, 9 June, 2006, followed by burial at Arundel.

He married in 1949, Valerie (died 1998), the only daughter of Lt.-Col. E. Barry-Johnston, of Makuyu, Kenya, by whom he had 2 sons and 1 daughter. The baronetcy now devolves upon his elder son, Arthur David Markham, b. 6 Dec, 1950.

Cissie Baroness Kershaw

Cissie Baroness Kershaw, who died at Newquay, Cornwall, 15 May, 2006, aged 99, was widow of the 2nd Baron Kershaw (1904-61). She was the former Cissie Burness Smythe, daughter of Charles E. Smythe, of Frien Barnet, and married the then Sub-Lieutenant Herbert Kershaw, RN, in 1933. Her father-in-law, Fred Kershaw, was appointed to Clement Attlee's administration in 1947 as a Lord-in-Waiting to the King, and was ennobled as Baron Kershaw, of Prestwich, Co. Palatine of Lancaster, 1947. He died in Feb, 1961, and was succeeded by his eldest son Herbert, as 2nd Baron, who died 5 months later, and was succeeded by his next brother, Edward Aubrey Kershaw, who died in the following year, when the peerage passed to Edward's son, Edward John, the 4th Baron, b. 1936. Baroness Kershaw's funeral took place at the Penmount Crematorium, Truro, 30 May 2006.

Mira M. Guinness (nee Maini), wife of the Hon. Rory Michael Benjamin Guinness (b. 12 Dec, 1974) younger son of the late 3rd Earl of Iveagh and of Miranda Countess of Iveagh, gave birth to a daughter, Aoife Maya Theadora, 8 May, 2006.
Mrs Guinness is the younger daughter of Dr and Mrs Tidu Maini.

The Countess Spencer (b.1967, nee Hutton) second wife of the 9th Earl Spencer (b. 1964), gave birth to a daughter, Lady Lara Spencer, in April, 2006, a sister for the Hon Edmund Charles Spencer, who was b. London, Monday 6 October, 2003, and a half-sister for Lady Kitty Spencer (b. 1990), Lady Eliza Spencer (b. 1992), Lady Katya Spencer (twin with Eliza, b. 1992), Louis, Viscount Althorp (b. 1994), George Rupert Freud (b. 3 October, 1995), and for Jonah Henry Freud, (b. 1 Apr, 1997).

Paul Bathurst Norman

Paul Bathurst Norman, sometime of Brundon Hall, Sudbury, Suffolk, who died 4 June, 2006, aged 69, was a grandson maternally of the Hon Sir William Gervase Beckett, 1st Baronet (who was a brother of the 2nd Baron Grimthorpe). He was b. 1937, the son of Harry Bathurst Norman, GM, MD (who d. 1966), by his wife the former Ann Prunella Beckett (1907-2001); married 1960, Susan Mary, daughter of Charles Orbell, of The Hermitage, Clare Suffolk, by whom he had issue. The funeral Service is at Holy Trinity Church, Long Melford, 12 June, 2006.

Scott Plummer (b. 18 Aug 1971), scion of the BLG family of Scott-Plummer, of Sunderland Hall, Selkirk, elder son of Mr (Patrick) Joseph (Joe) Scott Plummer (b. 24 Aug 1943), of Mainhouse, Kelso, and his 1st wife the former Elizabeth-Anne Way, now Mrs Robert Stewart, of Hilton of Gask, and Poppy Teresa Keswick (b. 1978), elder daughter of Mr Simon Lindley Keswick, of Rockcliffe, Stow on the Wold, descended from the extinct Barons Lindley, by his wife the former Emma Bridget Chetwode (b. 1950), scion of the Barons Chetwode. Poppy Keswick is a granddaguhter paternally of Sir William Keswick, and a granddaughter maternally of Maj. George David Chetwode, MBE (b. 1914), who married 1946, Lady Willa Elliot, daughter of the 5th Earl of Minto.

Joyce Marian Worsley, who died 1 June, 2006, aged 90, was the widow of Capt. Edward Marcus Worsley (1891-1971), of Cawton Hall, Cawton, York, an uncle of HRH The Duchess of Kent. She was the former Joyce Marian Beer, daughter of Stanley Graham Beer, of Northernhay, Bickley, Kent, and married a son of the 3rd Baronet in 1941. She is the mother of Susan Oliver, Thomas Edward, Angela Strickland-Skailes and Diana Rosalind, and grandmother of Robin, Lucinda, Nicholas and Charlie. The funeral service is at Stonegrave Minster on Monday 12 June, 2006.

Edna Maud Fremantle, who died 27 May, 2006, aged 93, was widow of (i) Capt. James Richard Lyddon, RAC, (who d. 1940) and (ii) Commander Edmund Seymour Denis Fremantle, DSC, RN,(1904-80), scion of the Barons Cottesloe, whom she married in 1946. She was Edna Maud, dau of Albert John Tweed Cusselle, of Dartford, Kent. The funeral takes place 12 June, 2006, at Weymouth.

The Earl and Countess of Wessex were present when the infant son of Lord and Lady Dalmeny was christened Caspian Albert Harry, on Saturday 27 May, 2006, by Father John McInnes, BD, in the private Chapel of Rosebery House, Midlothian. The godparents are the Earl of Hopetoun, Viscount Strathallan, Mr Angus Macpherson, Mr James Miller, the Countess of Wessex, the Marchioness of Lothian, Mrs Caspar Hobbs and Miss Gabrielle Sacconaghi.
